no i don't think that is a good idea because not that much people use that so they should work on it, but put it on sudo apt-get install or add/remove programs.

They have to work on it in order to put it in apt or add/remove... it's not going to magically appear and work...
A lot of people would enjoy having this supported. The point is to make Ubuntu the main OS so no one has to switch back and forth to do whatever they can't do. The more things Ubuntu/Linux can support off the shelf the more it'll attract people.

in kde I can transfer files with obex and I have hot synced before so I guess gnome has a different bluetooth stack/programs if it doesnot work

I hear ya! I was hardcore NO WINDOWS for a while until i wanted to start using web cam over Skype with my sis and her family...it does NOT work with linux. So here i am right now installing windows on a smaller partition...

I really hope to see Hardy Heron can hotsync with my Treo out of box. Does anybody know what is the name of the application that can edit/view the PIM data other than evolution?
