These instructions on the wine site specifically deal with PokerStars. I've gotten it running in 7.04 and 7.10

Still struggling to get more than one table in the foreground though.

I can get it installed but there should be a button on the bottom right that allows me to view tables or observe. That button isn't there. I'll see what I can google but you just posted a little while ago so I thought I'd ask right away. Thanks for anything you can do.

Just installed this with the latest wine and 7.10 Gutsy and works pretty well. Table resizing is still off and fonts are little weak but other then that I can live with it. Ubuntu is not my main system so when I want to play on it I can at least.

Hello I have found the Pokerstars solution for Linux users. If you want to play for real money you have to download the POKERSTARS.COM version not ".NET" version. Recently I put Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon on my computer, and let me tell you it was rough for the first week. I had no clue what "Wine" was and what it does, Terminal? It looks like something off a movie, and everything you have to type in order to get something accomplished is jibberish. Never fear windows users, if want to run a program that you enjoyed (or need) that you were running on Windows simply (if you haven't already) download Wine. Any program your looking for check to see if a Linux version is available, if not, download the program and when prompted where to save make sure it says Wine.
On my Pokerstars mission I've been trying for weeks to configure a port or mess with network connectivity. If you are on Pokerstars click on LOBBY and then LOGIN now click on "HELP" and click NETWORK STATUS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
all connections are bad right? That's because your running the .net version so delete it (if it will, mine wont uninstall?) and now download the .com version. You'll see all the buttons that were missing and you can play for real money now!
I thought the problem was in my computer and I still had to set something up on my new computer nope it all configures itself. I think you will notice the more you get acquainted with Linux the happier you get.

For what it's worth, I just installed it flawlessly with a simple right click and open with WINE.

...except Pokerstars will not let me download the windows version.
It always redirects to the Mac download page.
How did you download the windows version?

Right click / save as
Took me a while to figure it out too.

Then I just located it in my downloaded folder and right clicked the file, then select open with wine. Install as usual and you're off and running.

Works great for me too. Never had any problems with it, connections are fine and graphics too. Using Ubuntu 10.04 and Wine 1.1.42 :)
