Hello. I am pretty new to Ubuntu and have been using 7.04 for about a week. Also, I know little about linux, except that I love beryl. Recently I downloaded the Quake III Arena source code from:

http://linux.softpedia.com/get/GAMES-ENTERTAINMENT/FPS/Quake-III-Arena-Source-4534.shtml

I don't know what the next step to installing/running the game is. Also, is there anything I should get off of synaptic or any other sites first before installing/running the game? I have played this on windows previously but dont currently have windows on this system. Any suggestions/advice/help/solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You need the game data CD. Compile the game, then place the data pk3 files in the baseq3 directory. But I recommend ioquake3 instead.

Or perhaps OpenArena (http://openarena.ws/).

Can't believe I am not playing this game anymore ... < A quick 30 sec break, Let me look at the sky, remembering all those clan parties, CTFs, TDMs, fun>

Played a lot of games. This is the best game ever. The best part of this game is that even if you play it for 10 years, there is a scope of improvement. What say ppl? Any hardcore Q3 gamer here ?

Let me get a new mouse today and Q3 here I come again ... :guitar:
