I have Final Fantasy VII for the PC and want to run it under Linux. I have an old save file I want to use. To do this, I need to open up program files. How do I do this in WINE?

FF7 doesn't work in Wine, something to do with the Direct Show filters required by the cutscene videos.

Just what type of files are you talking ... about?
I got the little instninct that there is midi support on the kernel. But it's code that probably hasn't been worked on in a bit.

Ok... MIDIS won't run for me on Ubuntu. I run a soundblaster with MIDI support, it ran in WIndows. (I use for my ATI card). As for saves, they're proprietary. I only need to acess the program folders with read/write.

As I already said, FF7 doesn't run in Wine. At best you might get it to launch, but it will crash when movies or battles start. Most likely it will not even launch.
But, if you feel like banging your head against that wall, I understand completely. However, I think you need to explain a little more clearly what exactly it is you are trying to do; are you trying to copy a file from a Windows partition to the Linux partition? If so, are these drives in the same computer, or are you moving from one computer to another?
As for the midi thing, I'm not sure what your problem could be, ALSA has always handled midi flawlessly for me.

I need to copy the fine from /home to program files
BTW Won't it run if I run it under Wine 98? Nvmd. I tried it.
