steam dedicated server

hi all

I downloaded file "hlds_l_3111.full.bin" to home folder

then did "sudo ./hlds_l_3111.full.bin" it sat there and did stuff for a while then produced a tar.gz file :(

so I just extracted this and now I have a folder with all the HL files in, all in home still:)

if I double click on the run file it comes up with errors or cant run it basically:(

I must have to do something else

Im not interested in playing the game on the ubuntu PC

I'm trying to run a dedicated server on my network of windows PCs and also for friends to join from the internet, which I can do on a windows server already

just a bit stuck at the moment :(

typical you always find things just after you post, I'm not at home so I can't try this but it looks close,gentoo is another dedian distro so should be similar
