typing in firefox extremely SLOW

why?typing in gedit is normal

it has something to do with ATI drivers.
I had this problem when running an XGL session before running compiz.
Now when I installed Gutsy, it came up with something about the XGL session, so they changed something.

It is so slow it is unusable. How would you like to type in a word and wait for it to show up on the screen 5 seconds later. Also both firefox and seamonkey are doing this slow typing thing,
However, running terminal is normal.

also I expect I will not be the only one when people start updating to gutsy who have ATI 9600 video cards and are using the restricted drivers, So I suppose the only hope I have of seeing a fix, is if many others start experiencing the slow typing.
It is not ony typing, firefox itself is extremely unresponsive. and unusable.
