Compiz with Nvida drivers from Envy

Since I can use the current kernel and I am stuck using the 2.6.20-16-generic kernel. I had to install the nvidia drivers using envy. When I when i do 'system > preferences > appearance > visual effects > extra
I get a message that I must enable the restricted drivers nividia-glx. Is there a way around this with my current drivers?

I'm also in the same boat. Only nvidia driver from envy works for me.
