View Full Version : Stuff beside our names... (quesiton)

I like all the little pictures and names, but the pictures don't seem to make sense. For example, the text is quite strait forward - as you get more beans, the level of coffee seems to improve ;), but the pictures tend to be quite random, is this right!? I mean, overall, they progress forward, but I used to have 4 coffees and one black bean, and now I've earned more beans, and I now have 2 lesser cups and 2 green beans and one black one
Someone explain this please!!! ](*,)

It's all for fun, and you will have to find out how the beans change as your bean count grows. :) The only common theme is the images are coffee related.

well, in general I thought that the change kind of goes from green beans, do normal dark beans, and then to foamy coffee, and then to normal coffee, and then to those/mugs, and then if your staff or just 'super coffied', those thermos things you have ;)

From the Forum FAQ (http://ubuntuforums.org/announcement.php?f=48):
What's the deal with coffee cups/beans and the funny titles?
Beans are posts. The post/bean count can be turned off by the user if so desired.
There tends to be a close connection between geeks and coffee, so that's where the theme came from. Yes, we know not everyone likes coffee, but it's just a silly thing.
The images, their colors, and the changing icons don't have any special meaning. They simply change as time goes by. You will see (among other things) green coffee beans, roasted (brown) coffee beans, various sorts of coffee cups and mugs and so on. Like the titles, nothing specific is implied by the presence of specific images or titles (in almost all cases that is...staff, admins and banned users are some of the exceptions). These items are for fun, and are not serious. They are not a rank of any kind. They don't tell anyone how long you've been here nor how many posts you've made. The sayings and the images are a semi-random feature we have to provide a little kick. There is some structure to it, but only on the implementation side. We did this on purpose - because it was fun and whimsical. There's a bit more in the FAQ.
Oh, and the admins have coffee presses! Woo hoo! ;)

I know, that's where I read about this first, but for the beans (the text makes sense, but the beans...), well, not so much! Like I said - they seem to progress positively as time goes by, on a large scale, but on a small scale, it seems to be a 2 steps forward 1 step back kind of thing! :p...

I like how my bean status is Star Wars related. Nice touch :)

Don't make any more posts in the support forums so it won't change...:D (If you get over 3,000 or something, you can customize it I believe, so don't follow my advice, except this one)

There is a thread I started about that, it is http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=515751
Once you see the picture I used, it should be clear. The picture is not of me.
