MadTracker is a music composing program. Whereas RoseGarden is a sequencer (to the best of my understanding), MadTracker is a tracker, where you slot notes in a scrolling track. Same job, different interface.

Yannick, the programmer behind MadTracker, had made it open source because he no longer has time to make the next version. Any takers for an Ubuntu version? I hope, I hope, I hope.......

Wikipedia said it is jsut for Windows, but I would love to check it out on Ubuntu

I suuuuure would like to see this on Ubuntu. MT has a great sound engine.

You may want to post this some where developers can see it. I think we are the wrong kind of geeks. I am an art geek myself :)
