View Full Version : Gutsy Wireless Broken

I just upgraded Feisty to Gutsy using the upgrade tool.

The upgrade worked fine but now my wireless connection doesn't work :( It worked perfectly in Feisty, and in fact has worked fine on other machines since Hoary.

The Network Manager applet sees the wireless network and reports the signal strength, but keeps asking for the password. I also tried manual configuration (didn't work) and setting my router to no security (didn't work)

The machine is an OQO so I don't have ethernet, the wireless connection is via a USB dongle (Atmel chipset, I think)

Any ideas?

Oh, suspend stopped working too :( - Perhaps I was spoiled by how easy it all was with Feisty...

i assume from this you have access to another machine?

USB / USB dongles for wireless are just rubbish. Use pci-e pci or pcmcia to make your connection to the network that is my advice.

Keep with it, there are loads of updates coming out daily.
My USB stick keeps dropping connection after a recent update but I'm sure it will all come good in the end.

I have access to another machine, yes. I guess I'll have to learn how to run updates from file rather than internet... The OQO has a USB port and that's it - there is an ethernet adapter, but it takes a fair bit of work and a custom kernel to get it to work, which is beyond my current capabilities...
