Got a cheap camera recently even though I wasn't sure it worked. I wasn't able to get it to work under Feisty. I tried installing the gspca driver, using a few of the automated scripts that installed other drivers. dmesg would report it was registered as a v4l2 device, but when I would test it with camorama is gave me an error device /dev/video0 not reachable check that is is connected.
I tried gutsy on live cd and the camera worked, so I upgraded to gutsy but it's no longer working. It appeared in the kopete and camorama dilogues as using sn9c102. So I grabbed the tar ball, made it and installed it with modprobe -i sn9c102.
What am I missing? It's reported here as being compatible http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html. I've tried that driver as well, with the same results.
