I can get sound working well with Gutsy on my Toshiba laptop. As long as I am that user everything works fine. However, when I log out and log in as another user on the same machine and start an app that generates sound; the sound is all garbled. Once this happens sound is broken for all users including the original user where it was setup. Rebooting does not help either.
Reinstalling pulseaudio does appear to fix it again - for the user that does the sudo and install. It breaks again if that user logs out and another user logs in and tries to use an app that uses sound.
There is no sharing of the device here - i.e. both users are not logged in at the same time.
Has anyone else seen this? Where do I start looking to see help further debug?
