Is there a problem with Compiz/Desktop Effects running on a computer that has RDRAM/RAMBUS. I have a Dell Dimen 4600 1.8 Ghz running Fiesty and a Gateway 1.4 Ghz running the latest version of Linux Mint, both have 512MB of RDRAM and I can't get the dektop effects to "enable". The Gateway has a 17" LCD for a monitor and the Dell has a 17" CRT monitor. Neither needs Restricted Drivers. The only thing I can think of is that they both have RDRAM and this is somehow causing a problem.

I also have a Dell Optiplex 170L (2.4 Ghz Celeron) and an Optiplex GX260 (2.0 Ghz P4) both running Fiesty with SDRAM and have the desktop effects enabled no problem. The 170L has compiz fusion running with no problem.

Any ideas why the desktop effects won't run on the 2 PC's with RAMBUS?

Thanks

I don't think the RAM is the problem. The desktop effects really have nothing to do with RAM. What graphics card do you have?
