The animated toolbar that's on the mac, or the new windows vista, is there a way to add one for Ubuntu?
Those always looked cool on the mac.

You mean the dock, or the top thing. The dock can be simulated with Kiba Dock, or AVM or something ;)

Just resize your Gnome panel bar to about 35-40, set ti semi-transparent, disable expand and you have a dock.

Kiba-Dock and AWN are the closest thing I know, but you'll need a composite manager like Compiz, Beryl or Compiz-Fusion.

I looked around here and found another thread talking about gdesklets.
I'm using that now and it has just the thing I'm looking for.
