I've looked around, but can't find anything that would parallel this Ubuntu forum community for Windows XP. I have a couple XP machines (one for work, one for messing around), and wanted a place where I could get some help sometimes, or just talk about hacking them.
Official support forums are flooded. I'm more interested in a community of enthusiasts. Any recommendations?

You can ask in the Windows discussion forums. There's help in this community for just about everything. Just ask!

Moved to Windows forums.
(The irony of moving a thread asking for help finding a Windows technical forum to a forum for Windows discussion is not lost on me. ;) )

ive been trying to help a freind with their windows xp computer, (they would convert but atm their hardware is not workable with ubuntu, so until it is or he has the cash to upgrade hes stuck with windows.
im kinda begrudged to join a windows forum cos they chances of me visiting there very often are squat diddly,
ive googled my problem, (basically whats the windows verson of fsck that reparis anything bad it finds, and ive had no luck so if anyone has any ideas would greatly apprecieate it

Post your questions in the Operating Systems forum and you should get an answer pretty quickly...

I suggest JoeJoe.org, AeroXP.org, and JCXP.net :)
JoeJoe.org has a M$ MVP also.

try running chkdsk /f by default chkdsk will only scan in read mode and will not fix errors
