I found people posting their .conkyrc files here -->http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=281865 and thought that I could shoplift the first one that I saw just to see if I just had the wrong settings.

Turns out I did. So, here's what I took and the screenshot's attached.

Salamat po.

Iba talaga ang awesome compared to the *boxes. Pwede mong customize yung awesomerc to launch apps - ala hotkeys. In my case, for example:

mod 4 + enter = gnome terminal
mod 4 + p = pidgin
mod 4 + d = deluge

*mod 4 = windoze key

yung tags 1, 2, 3, 4.. ay yung mga virtual desktops (sort of).

first post here, got bored. nothing fancy really, like to keep a clean look on the desktop. just bought a HP w2207h, love HD display, first one ever for me. i must say, i'm a converted Linux user now, Ubuntu has worked well for what I need it for. let's just hope my girlfriend can find her way around it :)

Yes I've tried overglossed peace lately...pero a month ko na gamit yun kaya nagpalit naman me ng slickness :)

Hehe. Nimbus gtk+ and icon theme. (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Nimbus+(+Debian+and+Ubuntu+packages+)?content=7021 2). Ito na siguro ang pinakamagandang GNOME theme na nakita ko. Napaka-gaan na engine, complete icon theme, professional look and feel, at aesthetically pleasing. Ang problema lang ay hindi Tango-compliant at may icons na di nagagamit ng Linux desktop kasi pang-Solaris ang naming convention.

Siguro lang talaga it boils down to a matter of taste. Kung mapapansin mo, never pa akong may desktop setup with those 'neat' effects enabled.

pwede, install mo lang ang kubuntu-desktop , but looking at adredz's screenshot its alsread kde 4.1 so maybe its a good idea to just download kubuntu kde4-remix ISO.

pwede sa ubuntu, pero mas maganda kung fresh install ka kc madaming ubuntu(gnome) apps and anything na maretain sa box mo pag inenstall mo ang kde on top of ubuntu.

oh dude, try to download some nvidia drivers for your hardware. may tnt rn aq d2 na vid card and i say it works. pero dpat ung driver mo galing sa nvidia - ung binaries nla. gud luck na lng sau ^_^

guys, tanong lang po.. what's the difference between conky and awn?, or which one is better?.. i've been using awn for quite sometime mukhang OK naman, haven't tried conky yet, need input lang po.

Conky is a system monitor. Tells you what programs are running, temperatures, hard drive space etc. I think AWN is the dock thingy. For uhmm... docks? :p

Adding to this, Conky also shows weather info, gmail notifications, and when is the next episode of your fave tv show or movies all of which use specific scripts.

AWN is also a taskbar(?) & a launcher for the programs on the dock itself.

pendeltone, i have tried several times installing it, pero i always got an error that it won't push through!, i even tried using CrossoverLinux kaso may bayad :(.. then ganito ginawa ko..

i totally remove my old wine version, i even deleted the .wine on the home folder, then i downloaded Wine ver 1.1.4 if you have installed winetricks,i would suggest for you to delete it as well.


to get Wine ver 1.1.4
sudo wget http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/hardy.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list

tapos....
sudo apt-get update

then download winetricks..
$ wget www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks

it will install some DLL na kailangan for you to install MS Office

change mo to yung version ng Windows to "Vista"

when all are done, place you Ms Office 2007 CD installer (i still use the trial version downloaded from M$) then click on "set-up"

and wait mo lang matapos mag-install, minsan at 70% kala mo nag-hang pero bayaan mo lang it will push thru..

once installed.. run winecfg tapos change mo ulit yung Windows version to "XP"..

your done!..

fix on fonts, bullet and numbering.. punta ka sa Word options

Applications> wine> programs> Microsoft Office> Microsoft Office Tools> Microsoft Office 2007> Language Settings

then delete all the language that you have there except dun sa ginagamit mo.. i'm using English (US).. restart mo pc mo.

yung Equation Editor, Acces and Outlook di gumagana pa.
