yes napaplitan..
what i did is

1.i choose and edit my fav pic sa gimp
2.scale the edited image parehas sa desktop resolution, mine is 1200x800px
3.i named it to lockpix and save as .gif
4.and nilagay ko sa created na folder sa home directory .cclcfox where the certificate is also located

now i dunno if this is neccessary at din ko rin alam ang resulta..i opened the cclcfox-0.7.1 folder located in my home folder at open the folder named src and then opened the locker.h with text editor....

hmmm i tried to delete the * sign from the protected line called FXIFImage....*lockpix; and then save.

then i launched the cclcfox timer.. tada!!! i saw my favorite pic.. pero i dunno why and how it worked maybe becoz of the deletion of *asterisk? or becoz i have edited the image according to my desktop resolution?. actually it happened just today testing it in my laptop

anu kaya sa tingin nyo:confused:

if you plan to go linux.

your ace is internet browsing service and printing which is near schools.

you can now use webmessenger of yahoo (yahoo in web browser), it even now has webcam and voice access.

and because you are an internet only shop, you dont need high end hardwares.

probably you can now start with P100,000 of capital for 9-10 units or the better if you know how to use the nc computing (multiple units in one pc) or client pc's so your user can either log on as guest or create their own account with 10mb personal storage with bonus privilege like bonus time to give that attachment rate.

mukhang sa ngayon dual boot lang talga ang pinaka mainam na solution if you want linux on your rent-a-boxes, you get the best of both worlds linux for a "MORE" secured browsing and online transactions and WINDOWS for fun and games.

I also saw PLAYONLINUX, personally i haven't tried it yet, pero mukhang front end sya sa Wine, Wine na try ko na to, was able to play dota and a few mmorpg on top of Wine.

If anyone really wants to start a pure ubuntu iCafe I would suggest na:

Mag-research ng mga patok na offline/local/mmog na tatakbo sa Wine.
Mag-research ng mga Fixes/patches/dependencies or special configuration sa mga games na nakuha mo from number 1 (this is ofcourse for easier troubleshooting and maintenance.).
1 and 2 can be accomplished thru PLAYONLINUX and Wine site/forums.
Mas ok kung parepareho specs ng mga rent-a-box mo for easier troubleshooting and maintenance
Kung parepareho specs ng rent-a-box mo, try to setup a ghost/clone server like clonezilla (pwede din dd command for non netboot situations).
Lastly Make sure na ung mga bibilhin mo na printers and webcams will work fine on ubuntu.

Ang gagaling naman nyan...

Ano ang suggestion po ninyo na time-keeper for the internet shop..? Sa'men kasi, wala naman angal ang mga tao sa kung anong OS ang gamit, so I had a chance to experiment running games in Ubuntu...

Here are some of which I've run perfectly:
Conuter
GTA
L4D
Mejo nagkakaproblema lang ako sa DMC4 at RA3. But I was able to run DMC3SE...

As with other common MS apps like MS office 2003, okay naman din...

I think a better idea is to separate Gamers from people who only browses internet. Of course we must know the perspective of every customers, gamers, etc...

One issue (scenario) is, most Facebook users in an internet cafe complains when DOTA gamers keeps on screaming and yelling inside (maybe for excitement)... It's a total desrtuction for an innocent researcher. :D

My advice is, use Windows (7 or XP) in one side of your shop for gaming (since this OS is very much expesive). The other half, use Puppy or Ubuntu for Facebook fanatics and for research purposes etc...

... and oh, by the way, NO GAMING DURING SCHOOL HOURS! Research only.

I can totally relate to this. Back when I used to almost live inside Internet cafes, the gamers really annoyed me. And I spent long hours in the cafes doing research.

And another problem arrises, compatibility issues ng open office sa MS office.

any news about this? ;D

July 30th, 2010, 08:34 PM
Majority of the customer dont recognize the difference of openoffice from ms office.

Usually, they start from scratch so no problem with incompatibilities.

The only thing you will encounter ms office .doc .docx incompatibility is for printing customers that carry their own .doc files, but incompatibility happens in "tables" which is a little off and needs adjusting, you can reject them if you want since they are only rare and will take out your time which will out weigh other printing customers that will just print out a few documents without tables. But i also tried it in different ms office also results to table problems due to fonts used and versions 98/xp/2007.

Conclusion, MS office is a headache, and if you can give free copies of openoffice in your shop, then do so.

In the case of your Yahoo Messenger, just google it. :D

Yes, YLMF looks very much like WinXP. :) Zorin OS is also nice, you may want to try. It allows your computer to look like Mac OS, Windows 7, and GNOME (with a few clicks of a mouse).

Excellent! This was a very interesting topic, and I just lost 3 hours of sleep time kakabasa sa old posts.:)

On improving the i-cafe scene and widespread Ubuntu adoption,

Well based on my research. Nagrurun daw ang DOTA. Un iba di ko pa nacoconfirm like NBA NFS or CS. Inuna ko DOTA itry since yun ang pinakasikat dito samen. Try this link on how to run dota.

http://choxblog.wordpress.com/2007/06/25/play-dota-aka-warcraft-on-ubuntu/

I have what I think a better tutorial on installing DOTA/WC3/Frozen Throne, but it requires installation from an original copy of Warcraft 3 and Frozen Throne (pirated copies work just fine, but you didn't hear it from me, mmkay?;) )

http://jplui.com/geekmadness/2008/06/24/playing-warcraft-iii-and-dota-in-linux/

Since medyo matagal na since nagawa ko yun, kindly test naman and pa-feedback kung gumagana parin. Wala na ako time mag test these days. Pero dati everything worked pati LAN game.

Oh, Im doing my own compilation and reviews of games AND ONLINE GAMES that works for GNU/Linux natively ;) Not done with it yet tho. Next part of my research is for WINE, etc.

I'm preparing to push Gaming in Ubuntu for the Philippines :p Have friends and business contacts willing to do the test run, hopefully this year, if it will work. Cafe chains ;)

@Laibcoms, we'd love to see your compilation and reviews ng mga games. Maybe you can put a link sa Community Documentation ng Games sa Ubuntu Documentation (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Games) sa reviews mo or install instructions. At least pag inupdate mo dito, sure kang marami makakakita.

Pwede rin if you have linux-game-related stories/reviews/tutorials, gawan ko kayo ng author sa GeekMadness (http://jplui.com/geekmadness). I would love to have you as guest writers! Of course you can promote your own website or blog from there too.:)
