Is there a way to change the size of my XP splash screen--the part where it's loading up and has the blue rolling bar at the bottom? It seems like it's set at too low resolution and I'd like it to be a bit tighter.
Thanks!

The boot screen has a set resolution that cannot be altered, I think it is 640X480.
EDIT - Just checked, the default resolution for the boot screen is 320X400, not 640X480

it looks much crisper on my wife's laptop though. Oh well.

It can look different depending on how the laptop's screen handles that resolution. For example, if the screen cannot run at that low of a resolution, the boot screen doesn't actually run at full screen, but will instead produce a 320X400 "window" to display the animated boot image, while the screen itself is at a different resolution (usually whatever the screen's default is). In that situation, the boot image will definitely appear "crisper", though it is also displayed much smaller.
