c4280 can print but not scan

I am trying to scan with my new c4280 from HP. I can print just fine. I've read through the forums and everything says that it should be working for me. I have two machines, one with feisty and one with gutsy. Feisty simply says that there is no scanner found (I installed the extra sane packages and made sure that hp4200 wasn't commented out). Gutsy finds the scanner, then hangs for a minute or two then comes back saying that the device is busy. Anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem, you might have to install a newer version of hplip. It can be found here http://hplip.sourceforge.net/downloads.html. 2.7.9 is the latest version, I think the newest version in the repos is 1.7.3.
