I have a 60 gig usb hard drive that was working fine a couple of days ago (It is NTFS, so I could mount it from the command line using force) Now, when I plug it in and issue the command, I get: "Failed to access '/dev/sdb2': No such file or directory ."
When I plug it in both dmesg and /var/log/messages don't show anything. Its like it doesn't exist. But, when I unplug it, I hear a whining noise like it was powered up. I have tried it in every USB slot I have in my laptop, and its the same thing. Any ideas would be helpful.
