Why is it that when I open a website that normally need Adobe Flashplayer on a Gutsy installed computer that I don't get a prompt to install the Flashplayer program like I did under all previous versions of Ubuntu ?

Thanks.

I for one am just happy it works with Flash "out of the box" so to speak. Well done to the Gutsy team. In fact I have found everything works without any tinkering, or rather just excepting VLC the sooner this becomes the standard player for all video the better. All the others should be dumped they did their part earlier on but should now be resigned to the scrap heap IMHO

Mine does NOT appear to be working out of the box because when I go to www.anandtech.com which normally gives me a prompt for the installation of FLASH in am not getting the prompts for the installation and I am not seeing the graphics that are normally produced by the FLASH player at that site.

What gives. Is there something in FF that is not set correctly by default ?

Thanks.

Yes, it is a new/clean installation of Gutsy from the live CD from the daily live download from 10-06-2007.

This is the standard 32bit version.

Yes, I see that the "ubufox" package has apparently been installed "by default" by the O/S installation.

Should I uninstall this ?

Is this possibly the source of the problem ?

Am I to understand that this is a Ubuntu substitute version of FF ?

If so, is the non-Ubuntu version of FF included in the normally listed repositories for Ubuntu/Gutsy ?

Thanks.
