Hi,
I'm not sure whether this is a problem in 7.10 or whether it's something that I have caused myself...

Basically whats happening is that the Desktop folder seems to have been re-directed...everything in /home/keith shows up on the desktop and I have tried re-creating home/keith/Desktop but the problem still persists...My desktop is getting very messy :(

Has anyone got any ideas? Any help would be appreciated...

PS: If it is something that I have done then I'm not sure what it is...the only changes that I have made recently are adding AWN and eye-candy like that :)

PS2: 7.10 is great!!

From a terminal, open gconf-editor, and then navigate to /apps/nautilus/preferences and make sure that desktop_is_home_dir is unselected.

And no, I think you did that yourself. No big deal though.

Also check the file "~/.config/user-dirs.dirs" -> entry "XDG_DESKTOP_DIR" should be "$HOME/Desktop"

Okay thanks to everyone! All the information was valuable and I learned something new from both pieces of advice! :) Thanks alot.

(The problem turned out to be the user-dirs.dirs file...still don't know how I messed it up but I guess I done something ey!)

Thanks again!!! :)

Didn't know about the other potential problem. I also ended up learning something from this!

Thanks for the tip on where to look for a solution to another problem with the desktop but unfortunately no luck yet. One of the few hundred updates last couple of days I have lost my desktop icons/files; no menu on right click. Cannot place any items on desktop. Desktop and all the files still there via nautilus.

I fixed my problem by reinstalling XDG and its associated files.
