looking for a midi synthesizor

For the longest time, I've been using Anvil Studio for windows (http://anvilstudio.com/ It's really archaic), but I'm willing to move on.

Whats a good midi program that's easy to use so I can make and compose some midi music? (Printing capabilities would help!) Every time I search Ubuntu forums, I get mixed results...
