Hi all,

Every time a new ubuntu version comes around, syncing Evolution with palm gets a little easier. This time, syncing my treo 680 with Gutsy seems to be working out of the box.

But then, i noticed something that worries me. Some of my contacts (at first sight completely random) are missing fields in evolution. (after a copy from pda/ syncing). They are missing there home-phone-number (maybe more, i didn't have time to go over all of my contacts.)

I guess this is an evolution 2.12 thing, Because the same thing happened in the brand new Opensuse 10.3. Same (random?) contacts are missing home phone numbers.

Now to make things more bizar, yesterday, evolution was acting strange on my opensuse-partition: it froze from time to time and searching for contacts did not resulted in any records. However, during the crash, i could scroll my contacts, and at that time, i could see the contacts with their home phone number.

So apparently, gpilot synced fines, but evolution only shows these fields, when it is crashing.

The crashing only happend on Opensuse, I am having missing fields on both Opensuse and Ubuntu.

If anyone know what is wrong and has a quick fix, please let me know, if anyone else is having the same problems, please let me know. If you think you don't have the problem, Please check, it is not something you notice right away. I never need the home phone numbers on my pc, So it is a pure coincident i noticed this bizar bug. If anyone has an educated guess about why evolution could be hiding fields, please let me know.

I'll back up my pda on a different machine and start testing more rigorously, So i can follow this post up with a story that is less confused than what i've just been telling you.

Who knows, maybe when Gutsy hits the street, we will have the most robust palmsyncing in years. Fot now, i prefer a non syncing pda over a bad syncing pda.

Jan.
