Hello - I am new to ubuntu (and fairly new to linux) - and am loving it so far. I decided to take the plunge and see if I can get City of Heroes to work in linux (that and photoshop which I need for work are the only things tieing me down to windows still)

So anyway, I installed the game in windows onto a fat32 storage driver

I launch it with :: cedega CohUpdater.exe
the launcher works - updated the game to the latest version for me and everything (real happy the patcher works in linux)

the problem occurs when it attempts to launch the game itself, and go into fullscreen - the screen changes like its going to work (after showing the ::Loading:: splash) and then turns gray and gives me this error - if I hit abort it kills it and returns me to gnome, retry crashes X.

Thanks in advance - hope I can get this to work :-D

I just checked and it is a supported game, so it should work really well. What you'll need to do is install it under Linux using cedega to run the installer.

when I attempt to install the game - the backdrop for the installer is ontop of the actual install window. I read on a webpage that sombody got it to work by alt+F4'ing the backdrop, and the install was still up. When I alt-f4 it just kills the whole install program.

any idea how to get around this?

cedega 4.4 btw - and normal ubuntu install

EDIT::
http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=7609&page=1

thats the article that has the same problem as me with the installer background being in front of the menu.

the second page also says that some other people (back in the day) were having the same error that I started this thread with.

I've played this game on Windows and I loved it. I was thinking about buying it, but Call of Duty 2 is coming out so I'm just going to wait and ( hope ) that Cedega supports it. I would like to see how this turns out. I really would like to hear someone running it on Ubuntu :)
