I just installed Ubuntu about a week ago and I am impressed with the OS AND the helpful user community. I've actually configured tons of things on my box by using this site, and I never needed to sign up for an account to ask a question till now.

My problem is sharing a broadband connection with XP (as the host) and Ubuntu (as the client) using only a crossover cable and three ethernet cards.

I have configured internet connection sharing between XP to XP, and Ubuntu to XP (using firestarter), but for some reason when I try to assign XP as the host, everything just goes wrong.

Here's how I set up my computers:

XP
ethernet card1 connecting to my cable modem via patch cable-
configured tcp/ip to assign IP and DNS automatically

ethernet card2 connecting to my ubuntu box-
configured ip as 192.168.0.100 and input my ISP's DNS

Ubuntu
eth0 connects to XP's ethernet card2 via cross over cable-
set eth0' ip as 192.168.0.101 and the gateway as 192.168.0.100

the two computers are able to ping each other... but that's about it. and i cant seem to use the internet on xp while im connected to ubuntu.

well thats about it for now... thanks a lot guys.
