Ok, I installed Deus Ex in cedega. It ran fine, but then when I reached the title screen there was no sound.

I tryed to play it from then. It autodeteced my video settings (software rendered) and use high settings for each, except for resolution, which it put at 640x480. I tried to configure the video settings in teh game, and for some reason, i have to click the "Change Resolution" button about 6 times to get it to 800 x 600, and if I click it again it goes back to 640 x 480. If I hit "OK" after changing it to 800 x 600, it freezes. I just decided to run the game as is.

I was surprised how fast Paul Denton came up to me in the beginning of the game, and when I started playing I realized it was moving too fast. Not amazingly fast, but just faster. I couldn't play with the fast speeds and the lack of sound

any tips to get these working?

Hi
I played last time this game some time ago and as far as i remember everithing worked (sound as well). However i was playing in wine, not in cedega. I suppose you can try out in wine.
The game is listed in frankscorner.

good luck

Deus Ex was kinda finicky for me in wine. Performance was always ok, but sound was stuttery and transparency showed up as bright pink. The game is very much worth the trouble of booting into windows if cedega doesn't seem to work out.

I realize that this is a very old thread (almost 1 year) but I didn't feel like opening a new one for this matter.

I managed to get DX working flawlessly (except for some minimal - I mean it - gfx glitches) in Cedega. Don't even try Wine, you wouldn't go too far.

It's not that hard, but it has to be with OpenGL. DirectX works, but you'll have a lot of lock-ups and messed-up textures after loading levels/savegames a few times.

Also, make sure you have the latest single-player patch (1012f or something) since it improves the OpenGL renderer a lot. To install, use the same Cedega folder where the game lies.

By the way, your NVidia drivers must be updated and working at full glory (you must be able to run the heaviest OpenGL screensavers and native games smoothly). If you have ATI, you're unlucky. Go buy a decent card. :) Just kidding.

And if you're a FPS fan and missed this game, well, you're living under a rock. No, no, inside an extinct vulcan covered with rocks in the bottom of the ocean. But it's not too late, its AMAZING gameplay will easily make up for its outdated graphics. Just give a try, when you reach the second level, you won't want to stop.
