Sorry if this has already been posted guys - I did search long and hard on both Thunderbird and Ubuntu forums. My preferred mail client is (As you can probably guess) Thunderbird, but the RSS feed for this site sucks when using Thunderbird. I am currently to use Akregator so I can see the HTML version of the feed (I like to read responses prior to working out if I can help the person or not)

Does anyone know why the feed from this forum is a problem for Thunderbird? It does not seem to happen with other vBulletin forums I am on :( Is this a Thunderbird issue or an vBulletin RSS issue?

Dispite the forum upgrade, and several thunderbird upgrades this still doesn't work - does anyone have any ideas? I would prefer to use Thunderbird for everything but may be forced to look at aKregator or Evolution or similar soon :(

You say you want to see the HTML version of the feed in Thunderbird. Do you mean you want it to show the thread on the Ubuntu forums page within Thunderbird (instead of just the text of one post from the thread)? If that's what you want, subscribing to the RSS 0.91 feed (instead of the RSS 2 feed) seems to work. Take the RSS feed address and just remove the "2" from after RSS and subscribe to that in Thunderbird. The RSS 0.91 feed address for the latest posts from all forums would be:

http://ubuntuforums.org/external.php?type=RSS

Thats brilliant - thanks. Is there any reason thunderbird doesn't display the html with RSS2? Is this what the standard says and other clients (E.G Evolution etc) "ignore" the more restrictive parts of the standard?

I'm not quite sure why Thunderbird behaves like this. It doesn't have many configuration options for reading feeds, so perhaps it just makes an assumption about how people want to read RSS2 feeds.
