I have installed XP on my macbook pro using bootcamp and now I kinda regret that I gave XP about 40GB I would like to resize the partition to about 15-20 GB, that way I can put ubuntu later on. I was thinking and maybe gparted will do the trick? I'm asking this because I have heard that gparted messes up the partition or something is this true? By the way the XP partition is FAT 32 and defragged, ready to go. How much does Ubutu need to run smoothly?

Thanks in advance

resizing a partition with an OS installed on it is always risky. Make sure you backup files in case you have to reinstall. gparted should work for you.
