I tried embedding in a webpage, but it didnt work. If i added .gif at the end of the location name (.gif isnt in picture properties), it just gives me a broken picture on the webpage. If i dont put .gif, i doubt <img src= ...> would even work. Well, it didnt work that is.. :)

hey guys aI have a question... how do you insert a banner as your signature? thanksCurrently, only staff are allowed to have graphics in signatures. From the Forum FAQ (http://ubuntuforums.org/announcement.php?f=48):

Why can't I use images in my signature? (Why are the staff allowed to use them?)
Banners, flashing images, colorful and hidden links...the list is a long one. This is primarily a tech support forum with a small number of frivolous additions. This was something that people either love or hate, and people looking for tech support answers with as little distraction as possible are among those who hate this feature so we turned it off. The staff of the forums are allowed this as a perk since they are volunteers and receive no payment or other renumeration for their time, efforts and services here.

Imagine if the USS Enterprise ( and Data ) were run on Windows.
Now that would have been interesting.

Captain: "Data, what's the range? Worf prepare to fire torpedoes"

Data, "Capitan, distance will not compute! My computer says I need to update: STSD.dll now!"

Captain: What's that Data?

Data: The Space Time Speed Distance calculator DLL, Sir!

Worf, "Captain, the computer says we've installed a newer version of torpedoes and will not activate the firing sequence until we notify Microsoft!"

Captain: "Stardate Log 2347694: Nuke Microsoft HQ if we make it out of this mess alive. Stardate Log 2347695: Upon completion of Stardate Log 2347694: install Ubuntu in all Starfleet computers!"

OT: You don't need iTunes to do this. I'm sure the floola iPod management app can make this change for you.

Yes. The error occurred after I put on a fresh install of Office 2003. Applying the service however made it disappear. It's strange because no error comes on a fresh install under Windows XP.

The trash bin that Jayne and Kaylee have to reprogram is powered by a Microsoft Operating System. In the scene where they begin to reprogram it, you can clearly see a Microsoft Windows 2000 desktop with multiple windows open.

Not only does this show that in the future windows will be relegated to garbage disposal duties but that it remains as hackable as ever. My only question wheres the recycle bin?

They're about to install the "bin" driver, so windows knows that the bin is there...if not the bin might not function correctly and possibly crash more than it would with the drivers

Remarkably 10 minutes after finding this I inserted a USB hard drive into the Vista machine I have to use for work and because I didn't have both USB plugs in not enough power was supplied to spinup the disk and I got an unrecognised device error. The to my amazement Vista informed me that it had sucessfully installed the device driver for my unknown device, after seeing this thread I quickly took a screenshot and opened word to paste it in before leaving (its a good thread but Im not spending more time at work on a Friday arvoto contribute) and of course a virus scan had to be done which was incredibly slow (don't miss those) but I finally managed. Anyway will post back with the screenshot on monday. Once again great thread very enjoyable.

Saw this joke..

Is Windows a Virus??

No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:

1.They replicate quickly - okay, Windows does that.

2.Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so - okay, Windows does that.

3.Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk - okay, Windows does that too.

4.Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. - Sigh.. Windows does that, too.

5.Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. - Yup, Windows does that, too.

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.

So Windows is not a virus.

It's a bug.

I think it's already posted, but it's too funny.

Vista Speech recognition was Hillarious!!! ROFL!More so the 10 minute youtube link (um...around post...um...way back) where the guy is trying to program via the voice recognition, gets uber frustrated because it is crap, then says how cool it is after he finally gets a couple of lines saved. THAT is the type of person who has the most trouble switching to other OS's...they get angry at Windows because it does not work as promised (or even worse), but see it as being 'normal'.

Overall, a funny thread that should receive the "Best Threadromancy" award.

:lolflag::lolflag::lolflag: at this thread. Freaking Hilarious.

Speaking of funny pictures, I found one that doesn't necessarily make fun of Windows, but is still a good laugh.
