I have heard it works fine with Cedega transgaming.com . The latest update of cedega has problems.. borked my system and had to reinstall  As of yesterday there were no updates regarding that issue, but take a look.

But the short time that it worked it looked as good as steam on my win xp pro.

it did work great, but the recent updates broke it, there should be a fix from transgaming soon enough

You sure Cedega broke Steam ? What cedega are you running ? I've been trying Steam since 4.x and last one I checked (4.4) worked.

There is a new version out from transgaming.com

I've enclosed the release notes so you can see the current issues relating to games.

i meant the recent steam updates broke it. from aug 9/10

but transgaming promptly released the newer version of cedega 4.4-1 which fixed it

Not at all. Paying for a game, then paying more to get the game to work isn't cool.

Cmon ... its only 15 bucks for three months of updates and you dont have to renew it. Less than the cost of three days of starbucks...

You get to get the cedega debian package, wich means it lasts for as long as you want to.

Assuming Steam doesn't update again.

I finally got CS:S running in Ubuntu, but now I can't use the keyboard. Anyone else having that problem?

Steam updates and Valve sucks.
I'm admin server of HL 1 mods and I found to much problems.

Steam works on ubuntu, but the fps are less than windows.
