Suggestions for a new sticky posts... Links/information for new users

Discovering the "Filesystem Hierarchy Standard" ("http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filesystem_Hierarchy_Standard) was a huge step in understanding Linux when I first started simply because ... well... there is no way of knowing that such a thing exists if one is not told! And it should have been the FIRST thing I learned. The old Mac OS file system was wasy to understand... System Folder, Extensions, Control pannels, Applications... heck, even MS Windows makes SOME sense, but /bin /srv /mnt /var/spool makes NO sense to the uninitiated, and there is no decent guide and only a few passing references to it in any entry-level literature.

Just a thought, maybe a new forum with just stickies, sorted by category could be used, instead of the top of posts. In particular, some stickies are useful to other forums other than the one they are stuck to.

A "Universal Sticky Center" could be helpful. A sticky in each forum could have a link to it.
