View Full Version : Vista Tags and Ubuntu

I triple boot Vista, XP, and Ubuntu. One of the things I like about Vista is the implementation of tags into the operating system and being able to search for images using tags.
Is there anyway to use searchable tags in ubuntu?
Better yet, is there a way to search for Vista tags in ubuntu?
(then I wouldn't have to tag all my pictures twice)

Unless you back up nightly, I wouldn't bother. It has been my observation a triple boot declines in quality over time and eventually crashes. The only solution then is to scrape and reinstall and reinstall in the proper order. I'm seeing a lot of problems with the new Office2007 Zip package and I fix it by deleting Office2007 from the reinstall process.

Err, what huh?
I don't think you can search Vista tags in Ubuntu. Though images do have tagging standards, mine are tagged IPTC (most programs such as Picasa and other photo management) programs support this. I think Vista does this too.
Though strangely Beagle/Tracker doesn't pick them up unless they're loaded into F-Spot/digiKam too. Yet, when I load them in, they auto detect they existing tags in the photo (IPTC tags are embeded into the picture itself). Just like EXIF information.
