I thought I read in a post post that the official backports repo was now at

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hoary-backports

and up and running.

It appears to be empty. What's happening?

Yes, I'm ware of that, I was referring to announcement that was made re the new repo some weeks back saying that the address above should be used in preference to mirrormax. I can't find it in a search and was just wondering what is happening with the new repo that is now an official part of Ubuntu

You need to add the various sections "main, restricted, universe, multiverse".

I think the thread you're thinking of is here: Official Backports Launched! (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=52168) However by the end of it, it would seem things are not yet resolved...

There is a lot of backports which haven't been moved to the official backports repository: firefox, f-spot, abiword, blam, mono...

You're right, there are updates on the Mirrormax backports repo that aren't in the 'Official' one yet.
I guess there's no harm in having both for now, as the packages in the new repo have been renamed and take precidence over the old ones.

Please foward any requests for things that arent in official backports to ubuntu-backports@lists.ubuntu.com

Yes, I know. My main query was why these repos are completely empty at the moment.
Have a look.
