Burning DVDs (data) from within a script ?

Hello all,
Could anyone recommend a tool that would allow me to burn a DVD from within a script ?

Essentially, what I am looking to do is archiving stuff to a folder, and, whenever that folder gets beyond a certain size, back it up to a DVD.

I am confident I can tackle everything except the DVD burning part, which I don't know how.

Any hints ?

I'm no expert, but maybe you could try shelling out to netscsid? I'm pretty sure it supports writing to DVDs.

I tried cdrecord, and it works perfectly, doing exctly what I was looking for.
I will try netscsid in a few days.
