I'm currently using Samantana for my company handout (advertisement) and the font looked similar to this: http://img322.imageshack.us/my.php?image=snapshot13vc.png (found on this post: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=207021).

It now displays like the attached image.

I had a feeling that it was actually a Middle Eastern language font, but it was defaulting to this "techy"-look and I liked it. Does anyone know the name of the real font that's being displayed in that first image? I'll like to have it back.

I'm now in Gusty.

Please see my post here to download the font: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3584328&postcount=15

I completely understand and I am sorry for my ignorance. It's simply scrambled in what resembles Arabic to me.

I am by no means a linguist.

Yes, you're right, but what about the original font I was using. Does anyone know how to get it back?

I think that font *is* Samaranta. At least that's what Samaranta on my Feisty box looks like.

Which one looks like Samaranta in Feisty? The attached photo? If so, that means they did a system-wide reconfigure of this font. It should look like the URL link instead, showing the font used in the desktop.

My Samaranta looks like a normal font (your first link).

Im also using the same font for my artwork. It is really cool. Upgrading from feisty to gutsy the font changed. Any way to get it back?

It should be in one of the font packages in Feisty. I wouldn't know which one, but I would suggest you do a search on packages.ubuntu.com

A gentlemen by the name of Klaas Sijtsma personally e-mailed me the font on 2007-10-02. I never thought of postin the font, but due to a personal message from a fellow forum member, that is now what I will do.

The extension is .ttf but I'm posting it compressed as a .zip (because it allows file sizes of 976.6 KB) due to forum restrictions.

Therefore, you must unzip the file to use it.

Enjoy!

A personal thanks to Klaas Sijtsma for his kindness.
