Freeware: Distributed as freeware for business or personal use. However if you want to redistribute Wink, you need to get permission from the author (satish%20at%20debugmode.com?subject=Distributing% 20Wink).

It's not open source, free, GPL.

I gathered that. If we were to ask the author and he approved could it be added to the repository?

I don't know (I'm not a maintainer/developer), but first this software needs to be free (probably licensed under GPL) and then someone needs to package it (and maintain the package). That's a lot of work. It still wouldn't be backports stuff (as I understand).

EDIT: Nice looking software, though.

It is free for non-commercial use. The same thing relates to all the other free software out there as well though they are free for non-commercial use.

Regarding maintaining it. I might have to try and learn how to package it. I didn't have any major issues in maintaining some rpm's that I used to maintain not as a packager mind you but just for myself and friends. I'm going to have to learn the debian way of doing it.

I'll have a look into it better and see what the difference is compared to rpm's.
