I was in the pub with a non techie friend of mine I hadn't seen for six months. When I last saw him he was having major computer problems- his windows box seemed slow, crashed a lot, and i think had more than a couple of bits of spyware. He had seen me running Ubuntu, and thought he's give it a go. I installed it, configure it, and gave it to him, thinking it would last a week before xp was back on.

After chatting to me for a bit in the pub, he asked me to look at his mum's pc - he said it was not really working. Assuming that he just wanted me to get it back up and running, I asked him what was wrong. He said "Nah man, dont bother fixing windows, put that Ubuntu thing on it - it's rock solid!" Suprised, I asked him if he had had any problems with his ubuntu box; "Nope not one - it just does what it is meant to!"

We are making progress guys. :)

Wow. He's so lucky!

As for me, it took me months to make things work and I am still having compatibility problems until now.

He's not lucky - he had a mate to set his computer up ;)
