warhammer rtt

It would appear to me that at the moment there are no open source rtt (real-time tactics) games. I would love for there to be one based on the warhammer games.
I would happily be involved with such a project my self. the only problem is that i don't have the skills. Im learning to program in c++ but i don't know enough about game creation.
Are there any beginner friendly tutorials to get me started or do people have some other good advice? Im open to you wisdoms.

Isn't Glest an RTT game? It has the same kind of thing as Warhammer too (Ogres, Monsters, Mages, etc.) so might fill that gap for you.

If you like Warhammer 40000 DOW, check out boswars, it's not perfect but it's a start.

thanks for the replies. glest looks ok but it does say that its a real-time strategy which is differnt because you have to build the units rather than be given them and work out strategies and tactics.
