Core2Quad nVidia?

Hi there i am not sure if this is placed under the correct section but i am in dire need of your help? I downloaded beryl from synaptic, but when i run it i get a white screen but i know that there is a cube because i can rotate the white cube. I have tried the built in special effects and they do not work either.

My PC specs are:
Intel Core2Quad CPU
nVidia 8600GT XXX edition
1 GiG ram
Intel BX2 Motherboard

I am running ubuntu feisty fawn (All i can say is WoW!) but i really want the eye candy :KS.

Did you also install beryl-manager and emerald? You need 'em both.

Then, in a console window, enter beryl (or maybe you need to prefix it with sudo, I can't recall), and it will audit your display setup and report whether it is good to go. You need to pay attention to any errors that it reports. :)
