I am looking for good tutorials for Gimp 2.2.
I would like to learn:
1. How to make a decent avatar.
2. How to make a decent signature.
3. How to make decent wallpaper.
I can do all of these in Gimp, but my results have been of very poor quality.
I can't figure out how to import pictures and integrate them with my background.
I have been reading Adobe Photoshop tutorials and trying my best to do the same in Gimp.
Any help...or advice..or pointing in the right direction is appreciated.
Regards,
Blair

*tag*.
Sorry, I have no links, but I am in the exact same boat as you. I have used PS alot, and I want to learn to use GIMP like I do PS.
Also, I accidentally got the layer menu to dissapear (the window that manages the layers), how would i get this back?
I am on KDE by the way.
<_< sorry for semi-hijacking your topic

Once you've done it that way, you'll see that Ctrl-L also opens the layer panel.
If you're into creating graphics, take a look at my thread about raytracing. (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=37666) You might want to give that a go, it can produce some amazing images:
