For a while now I have been running Ubuntu on my older machines, and had kept mey newest machine, a 3800Athlon 64x2, 2G Ram, Nvidis 7600gt, on Windows XP, for gaming. I was getting increasingly tired of Windows, and all the BS associated with it, and decided to dual-boot the machine. But when I did, something broke in the Windows install, and it wouldn't boot anymore. So I tried to restore it, but, of course, Windows restore just broke it some more. And at that point, I just said, screw it - and loaded Ububtu to the whole disk. Now, I am running Ubuntu on all my machines, and it only took it a couple hours to get everything working. At this point, I have only tried two games - Diablo II and Tombraider Legend - and they both play GREAT. Legend actually plays faster and smoother than it did in Windows, and the controls are more responsive. So, the restore disks for XP are still in a drwaer, and if I ever feel the need, I guess I can re-install it. But why?

Welcome to arguably the best OS around.
Get past the initial learning curve and you will be fine.
So many people complain that Linux is too difficult to use. But these same people have no idea how configure or fix Windows. If they would of installed Linux on there first computer they would probably be saying the same thing about Windows being too difficult to use.
Good Luck.
