I have a problem here and i guess im not the only one.
I speak pretty good english as "small talk" level but when i need help for technical or coding level, it would be thousand times easyer to ask, and get help on my own language.
Could here be a area for "not english topics" so i could ask help with my own language.
After all, here is so much different nations that i bet, i could get help on my own language.
Prolly no one gets pissed if i ask help in Finnish, but it would be easyer if there could be place for those questions...see my point?

yes there should be- distrowatch has ubuntu at the top of its hit list and the forums dont even have the german italian etc that gentoo forums have
seems a little biased towards english speakers
someone who only speaks french needs help with a tv card and i dont know what to tell them

There is an ubuntu french forum here (http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/) .
I think that area could be problematic. Who would moderate posts in all the languages for example?
In my opinion independent foruns all related to ubuntu as we have now is the best.

Well, its not an problem anywhere else, at least a major problem?
It could work here. We should start from idea that every one gets help. If topics starts to look too long then there might be "off topic fu** you" stuff goin on.
At least major languages shouldnt be a problem. French, italian, german etc. languages should not be a problem to get moderator?
There is lots of peoples interested about linux but cant speak english good enough to survive with it. Maybe we should give em a change to try, not to wonder does there be few off topic conversations. I dont believe that anyone starts "bad topics" in hes own language and if that ever happens, some one notices about it very soon for moderators.
After all, i have understand that one principles of linux is, every one gets help in theyr own language

there is no reason those other forums cant be accessed through the main page here- I dont know if they cant because I havent looked around in a while- but Ubuntu is too large to not address this in a better manner.

just looked- that's not acceptable
there should be links to translated versions of the forum or the various language forums for ubuntu at the top of the front page
very hostile to humans
there are billions of people who do not speak english- although not billions of ubuntu users who do not speak english- but still coming from Africa you would think there would be better more thought put into non-english but hey....
wouldnt kill anyone to change that

I agree. There is a list of forums here (http://www.ubuntulinux.org/community/forums) but it is incomplete and it would be easier to find these forums if there were links to them on the front page of this forum.

I didnt know there exists national forums before i was informed about it on IRC.
Just a few hours before your post.
National forums is great way too, and as you sayd, they should be easyer to find.

I do think it's easier to run independent forums. However, linking prominently is a great idea. If anyone has a good knowledge of the links we'd need to get them all, post them here. I'm proposing this to the admins.

LoCo Teams (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoTeamList) this list is much more complete than the previous.

That's a great list Susana. Thanks PanickedThumb I'm sure UbuntuForums will get a thumbs up for this. Now if we could only do something about the deprecation monkeys on irc......... ;)

yea..great thinking...wouldn't it be also convenient when EVERY ubuntu forum had a same 'toolbar-like' thing above their frontpage with all the (tiny)representing national flag icons linked to the several frontpages of the other languages?
