I have a DVD game, for XP, and my licence says that I am allowed to put a copy on the harddrive and keep the original as a archive backup.

This IS NOT a pirate question but how do I get a fully working ISO to use on my hard drive? I've scratched DVD games before and I don't fancy doing it again for such an expensive game.

Just tried creating an ISO, using XP as I'm still new with Linux, with a prog called Blindwrite but the game told me to insert the original game.

Any ideas?

BTW The game is Boshock

Hiya,
i use DVDDecrypter for windows to copy dvd's (games/movies/etc) to iso's.

If the program asks to insert the original cd (or dvd) use a no-cd crack (gameburnworld.com)

I make backups of all my games too. DVDDecrypter is a very good program and I have yet to have a problem. You will have to use a no cd/ backup cd crack though. Game Copy World is a good one, and so is megagames.com.

With Bioshock, didn't the SecuRom put a limited number of installs though? I heard something about that.

Hope not.

I've had some computer problems and had to uninstall the game a few times. All to do with getting a suitable graphics card.

Thanks for the tip. I never thought of DVD Decrypter and after your suggestion I made an ISO and mounted it with Nero Image Drive.

I was expecting the usual "Please insert the real disk" but was plesantly surprised when I was able to play the game with no problems or further cracks.

As I said, this is NOT an attempt to pirate a game, I just don't want to scratch my DVD.

Cheers

I can walk you through www.megagames.com. On the left, you'll see a section of links for game fixes, below which are "PC Games". Click that. On the top of the next page there will be links to each letter of the alphabet, you'll want "B" of course. Bioshock is on page 4. In the Bioshock section, you want "Game Fixes". Download the only one that is there at the moment. I can't download it from where I am right now, but inside the zip file should be instructions on how to use the crack. It'll be on a .nfo file probably. Open that with notepad or whatever you use for text.
