I had this Windows XP disk kicking around for over a month, and finally got around to installing it -- just to play the games that don't work in Wine, though, I'd never actually use it <_<.

Everything worked pretty good, until I tried booting it up... and it demanded Service Pack 2. And I'm like... wtf? Because I don't HAVE a Service Pack 2 disc!

Anyway, you guys got any suggestions?

Here's a non-microsoft link for it - http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/Windows_XP_Service_Pack_2/4-992-1.html

I should have a been a bit clearer. You see, I already have that file. After Windows gave me that error I downloaded SP2, slapped it on a disc... and it didn't work.

Also, when I say "Windows demanded Service Pack 2" I mean it doesn't even get me to the full operating system before telling me I need to insert the disc. When I click cancel, it reboots the computer. :-/

So I'm guessing that it wants SP2 as an ISO or something. I really don't know.

You can try to slipstream the windows XP using N-Lite and then adding SP2 as a option. It will combine the XP and the SP2 into a ISO. Just the disc alone will not install XP and I belive you have to activate XP online or by phone.

If you install xp without a net connection it shouldn't ask for sp2 - "I say shouldn't". :lolflag:
