A real fun mud you kind of get better at stuff by using skills loads of fun
Ashvar's Legacy
http://www.ashavar.com/
So far the muds mentioned are fairly easy to play most of them are Dikumud wich allow you to set custom colors for exits etc making it much easier to learn and play.
If you have a favorit mud please recoment and please tell why.
If you like a challenge then mudding may be for you.

I remember that I used to play Achaea (http://www.achaea.com/) when I played MUDs. Actually, I might take a look at a couple you have mentioned. :)

Materia magica has MSP sound protocal which allows for in game sounds where you download the sounds and the mud send ssound codes to set off the sounds or music in game.
Anyways after searching a while and using gnome mud I came accross mudmagic which has the MSP protical commpression protocals etc. It also seems to have on of the best prompt input with autocomplete etc.

They have deb packages available.
Currently im trying to get sound working as either the games sound was bugged that day or im configuring it wrong. Anyways anyone interested in muds with sounds may want to have a look at Mudmagic.

I'd like to invite you all to check out Maiden Desmodus. We've just come out of a year of hard development and opened for public beta last week. If you like the RPI elements of games like Shadows of Isildur, Harshlands, and Forever's End and the intense PvP and questing of games like Avalon, then you might enjoy what we've put together.
