This is a strange one.

Whenever I enable Beryl the top toolbar on all windows disappears. Here is a screen shot as I have no other way of explaning it

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v178/pmycrackin/Screenshot2.png

Look above each window you will see the tool bar is missing - I am unable to minimize / Unmaximize Window and close window

Any help would be appreciated

If you right click on the red beryl symbol and reload the window decorator does that solve your problem?

If you are using an nVidia card, try adding this line to the "Device" section of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"

then restart X.

I have the same troubles. I thought it was the way update manager removed beryl and added compiz. I had it all working except to rotate cube with the mouse.

I have uninstalled all compiz and removed kubuntu-desktop-manager and reinstalled to no solution.

Here is /X11/xorg.conf

(in your section device, 3 lignes before the end of the section)

I'm having this same problem but the lines added to xorg.conf won't save. When I restart they disappear. Also, when I restart, my display settings (resolution) won't save either and revert back to defaults. Help with either of these?

If I try to simply open up xorg.conf through places it wont let me save the file, so I use

gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

to open it. I can at least get it to save opening it like that but when I restart the added llines are gone again.

Actually, I can get the toolbar back up but ony by enabling windows decorator in System=>Preferences=>Advanced Desktop Effects Settings. However, then my toolbar uses some strange theme that doesn't match anything else - I try to use Preferences=> appearence to change the windows border theme back to the matching one but its already set on it and re-enabling it (switching to another and then switching back) has no effect. It doesnt change.

Hello all,

Please excuse my noobiness but I've just installed compiz-fusion on my new gutsy upgrade. Was excited about the possibilities... But it's not working...

It's shows in system preferences so I've been able to enable all the plug-ins i want etc. but they never take. I finally did a simple "compiz" in terminal and found out why...

seantm@techopia:~$ compiz
Checking for Xgl: not present.
Blacklisted PCIID '8086:2a02' found
aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/metacity

So it looks like I have to get Xgl in there? --If yes how do i go aobut doing that?
What does "blacklisted PCIID" mean?
Is my basic intel video card just not supported? Here's the specs on it:

Device "Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller"

Any help at all would be appreciated -thanks in advance! ~Seantm
