I was thinking.. the perfect metaphor to ubuntu and linux is a snowball.... and windows is a bowling ball. The key here is the "snowball effect" where the more people that use linux in generall.... the better it gets because almost everyone contributes in someway whether it is an idea, suggestion, bug report, or more developers.

It would be cool to have some animation of a snowball representing open source, picking up steam as it goes downhill... maybe involving penguins somehow...

Isn't the "snowball effect" normally a bad thing?

How about the "snowflake" effect? One by itself is nothing, but several million can make an impact. :)
