View Full Version : help looking for a program

i've used a GPS to record coordinates for what i hope will be samples for a research project. seeing as how i have no connector cord of any type for GPS<->computer, i'm fine with typing the waypoints in manually, there're only 50 or so. can anyone tell me of an application that will let me input the coordinates and make a good map? the scale of the project is about .6 km and i'd like to get down to 5 meter grids. also, i have the waypoints recorded as degree minute decimal, so if the application will work with that format, that will be helpful.

i tried to download Thuban (http://thuban.intevation.org/). but Synaptic says that the program needs libgdal1-1.3.2 and when i go to load that, it says i need to uninstall gdal-bin, but i can't that installed with libgdal1-1.3.2. besides, my packages installed include libgdal1-1.4.0, so i don't know why the app won't work with that.
