There was an excellent how to guide on the Ubuntu Gamers site but I could not find it anymore. Anyone have an idea?

I just downloaded the .deb files from GetDeb and installed them. I did have to install the ufoai-data package before installing the base ufoai package. Get it from here:

isn't that 2.0 though? I downloaded a version 2.1.1 that has a hot fix but I forgot how I installed it before (reloaded my pc). I used a "how to guide" from the Ubuntu Gamers Arena but that since has been redone and I cannot find the guide I used.

Yeah, we're still working on getting things back to where they were on the UGA. Well, CK, Hikaricore and AI are at least, I'm still getting my feet wet there.
The .deb on GetDeb is listed as version 2.1, so its probably from just prior to the hotfix.

We're working hard to get the guides and howtos updated and reposted.
Please bear with us.
When the guide is up again, it should be located in this tree of the wiki:

Hey guys, I downloaded this file ufoai-2.2-linux.run and ran it in terminal. It installed all files within the archive and told me to simply type ufoai to run the game. I cannot get the game to start however and wonder if I need to install furthur dependancies or something....there is no error message...just wont do anything.

Then you have to give us all terminal in/out-put of the installation (attachs as a txt file) to see if something went wrong.

Loving this game. Just DL it the other day. Brings me back to the old X-Com days. The devs did a nice job on updating the look of things.
